So today i was having a conversation with a friend. We talked about the current situation in the country, the brutality, arrests and how unbecoming it’s starting to be.
The talk went on and on and finally he told me that sometimes one has to ask the question;
“Can you handle it?”
Earlier on, i had mentioned that one’s dreams can easily be destroyed by a single negative mind who doesn’t believe in your journey. We both agreed that it is not wise to share breeding dreams with negative minds. They will crush before they hatch.
His argument was that sometimes people will say so much, and his thoughts were that when we share, people blot out all their emotions and most times we are not prepared to take them in.
We were discussing the bravery of a former musician, cum politician who decided to speak out against dictatorship and unintentionally become the face of change, and the voice of many. He wowed crowds as a musician, now he is pulling villages as a politician…His catchy phrases have become common man words and are ringing bells in the minds of many.
I don’t think anyone is prepared fully to take things in or handle them at any level, and we do not possess the same level of strength. Some can take it in with a pinch of salt, and to others it completely absorbs them.
I have been following the events of my country, some of the videos seem surreal and my heart bleeds at the confidence of those holding weapons of mass destruction. I have not been downtown in months, yet that was one of my hubs, my shopping adventures were born there and i still pass by to see what’s in store. The COVID 19 pandemic put that on hold in my life. When i saw bodies lying there, it was beyond heart breaking and haunting too. I keep wondering how they take it in, how they sleep at night and whether they can handle it?
I pray for my country, for God to give us the grace to handle it. To deal with whatever comes our way peacefully and honorably. Most of all, to take it all in our stride. As we prepare for January 2021, may the grace of God lead us to his promises for us- “Jeremiah 29:11”
For God and my Country
