Dear dad

I saw an article of you in the newspapers today 12th February 2021, Monitor to be precise. Father Wynand Katende jotted down some pretty awesome things about you. There’s an election petition ongoing, and that was your area of expertise. He was also part of the priests at your send off requiem mass at Rubaga Cathedral. There are other articles about you that I have kept to show your grandchildren one day.

The new law year was opened early this month. I think of 5th February. I don’t understand why they did not have a moment of silence to remember you, but well, you played your part.

It is a month and five days since you passed away, and there is not a day that you do not cross my mind. We had a memorial service for you last Sunday in Masaka and i took the readings in luganda. I guess you didn’t know I could do that…. huh!

I didn’t know that you would jot down phone numbers in your diaries, it was impressive. I saw all our numbers. A couple of days ago, i looked at your youth photos….you took quite a number and i saw your graduation day too.

Some people haven’t been very kind since you left, even those who claimed to be your “friends”. I have understood a lot about the world since then. Uncle Eddy has been a blessing though and he has walked through a lot with me.

I remember so many things about you, brushing our shoes every evening after school, picking us up and being there when we needed you. I see your smile when you walked in from work and removed your coat, the times you spent telling us about your work and the hilarious witnesses you faced.

It was a struggle for us all when you passed away. Mom had it the hardest and she dearly loved you… we all did and we will forever treasure those last moments with you…

This is all I can say for now….

I love you daddy and may your soul rest in peace!!!
