So I was having a conversation with a workmate, and it revolved around work and the benefits that come with it. So we spoke at length.
At his level, he gets a lot of opportunities to travel and see the world. During our conversation, he shared that they often used the funds to develop themselves and grow. For years, all they bought was land and bags of cement to build houses and start different businesses too. He also shared that they lived in the cheap/ low cost housing/ hotels in order to make ends meet. They did relish in those moments and made use of them.
Twenty years later, he says that he has developed, built something for himself. He has even become a money lender at work. Now when he travels for work, he opts to stay at the fancy high end hotels and takes tours too because he has graduated!
According to him, he spent twenty years building, saving and making a future for himself and his wife and children, and has finally reached a point when he can enjoy his sweat, efforts and take annual vacations with his family. In his own words, he has done his part and it is time to just live and enjoy the fruits of his hard work…..well deserved I could say too!
So I learnt to graduate…… I am not in position to stay at a five or seven star hotel yet! I am still building my way there but I have graduated in the little things…. Like I do buy myself the good stuff…. Better than before. I get myself a real fancy meal when my paycheck comes thru, and treat myself to something special every month and as I continue to grow, I will and must graduate in many other areas of my life.
So I pray that as you go thru this journey of life, you too graduate……
For we all must graduate
